Anapode Solar

Anapode Solar is a division of FenSys Ltd., founded in 1995, and provides a wide variety of solar products for commercial and residential solar photovoltaic installations. We also provide systems engineering and design services on a consulting basis.  We love to talk solar so give us a call if you have any questions. Our address: 2724 N Old Bethlehem Pike, Quakertown, PA 18951.

We Supply:

Homeowners, handy do-it-yourselfers, contractors and systems integrators. DIY is a new idea in solar which we believe deeply in. We believe that solar can be simplified to the point that many homeowners can do it themselves. The invention of the micro-inverter allows DC panel power to be converted to AC power at the panel and this makes things MUCH simpler. Anyone who has ever wired an outlet or a switch can wire AC solar panels. Doing it yourself lowers the cost of installing a solar system and therefore lowers the period of payback so you can start earning a return on your solar investment sooner.

Anapode ships nationally:

From our warehouses in California, Colorado, New York and Pennsylvania. Corporate headquarters is located in lovely but cloudy Pennsylvania so we know how to make solar work in a marginal solar location.  We can not provide shipping to Alaska, Hawaii & US territories.  We do not export at this time.

Why we do it:

We believe in solar as an imperative for the future of our planet and our children. Solar PV has numerous benefits for people and the planet. We fully understand that large scale adoption of solar PV systems will only take place when it makes financial sense to businesses and consumers. Recent drastic price decreases for solar panels and our own simplification of installation lowers the cost of solar to the point  that it makes economic sense for the first time in history.

From the founder: Since I was young in the 1960's I was aware of and concerned about the damage that people were doing to the environment.  I was so concerned that I even went to college to earn a BS in Forestry.  Most my life has been spent trying to improve the environment and educate people in the need to do that.  Solar is my calling and I want to educate people to the power of solar to change the world.

How we do it:

Anapode's principal goal is to lower the cost of installing solar on your home or business. We do this by selling quality solar components at the lowest possible prices. At the same time we work toward making installation so simple that a homeowner can do it themselves. We assist you through the time consuming and expensive designs, permits, installation steps and long term maintenance isues.

Why you should consider it:

If I was to tell you that you could pay X for a solar pv system and that you would get all your money back in one year then never have to pay for electricity for the rest of your life, would you do it? Of course you would, you'd be an idiot not to. What about a two year payback period? Would you still do it, of course, it still makes so much sense you don't even need a calculator to figure that out. I think I can make the same argument for three, four and five years. Pay your regular electric bill for 5 years then get it for free forever, yeah.

When you start to need to crunch numbers is for payback periods of 6-12 years. I think we all know intuatively that 10+ years is too long. You probably didn't live the same place 10 years ago and may not 10 years from now. But 7 or 8 years? Yes, you can put in your own solar PV system using kits or components from this site at prices low enough that you can pay as much as your electric bill would cost for 7-8 years then have free electricity for the next 17 years. Panels and microinverters are manufacturer warrantied for 25 years but there's every reason they should be expected to last long after that period as well.

30% Federal Tax Rebate in the US

In the US an individual or business can receive 30% of the cost of their solar installation back as a tax rebate. This applies if you do it yourself or have a contractor do it. Additionally, any structural work required to install solar is also covered, although a new roof underneath certainly isn't.

The Time for Solar is Now:

What is the Solar Event Horizon? There will come a time when producing power without fuel is so much cheaper than any fuel based generation system that it becomes impossible to build another fossil fuel or nuclear power plant. We have reached that threshold now but few people realize it yet.

Shipping:

We include the price of shipping in most our kits.  The kits take time to assemble to allow 2-3 weeks for delivery.  Your kit will usually come in two shipments from two different warehouses on two trucks.  Panels come on a pallet and the rails/hardware comes loose on a truck.

Returns Policy:

We do not generally accept returns.  We will instead work to make sure you are 100% satisfied with your solar kit.  If it becomes absolutely necessary for you to return a solar kit then you will need to pay return postage as well as a 20% restocking fee.  The restocking fee is meant to recover our cost of shipping the kit to you as well as actual restocking.
